Lannie Doll and the Lying Cheat

"Here's your drink, Mark."

"Hey, babe, I thought you were a fairy? What's with the new costume?"

"You know me, always changing my mind at the last minute. Do you like?" Lannie pulled at her dress as Mark examined her new costume. She wore a pink foam girl's dress, sleeves over-large and poofy, as was the dresses knee-length skirt. White tights, Mary Jane shoes, and a big white bow helped complete her outfit, as did a colorful and large yellow lollipop.

"Ooooh, and check this out!" Lannie turned around to reveal a large silvered key. "Go ahead, turn it." Cautiously, Mark reached forward and turned the key. He heard clicking noises in Lannie's back. When he let go, the key began to turn and Lannie spun around. "Hello, I'm Lannie-Doll. I want to be your friend!" A semi-mechanical voice said. "Would you like to play sex?" Perry spit out his drink. Mark would have done the same, had he been drinking at the time. The key wound down and Lannie shook her head.

"Wow. What was that? It was like I – Hey!" Mark grabbed Lannie's shoulders and turned her key, this time several turns further.

The wind-up doll turned around once again. "Why, Mark, you're my best friend! Let's go play in my room!" She grabbed his hand and skipped up the stairs. The partygoers hooted and howled. Mark wore a huge grin. And why shouldn't he, he had a beautiful sex doll. But Lannie's key wound down once again.

"Mark, what are – Ahhh!" He barely wasted time to turn her key. "What would you like to play, Marky! I would like to play tea party!" Lannie said as they entered an empty room. The door was barely closed before he shoved the doll against the wall and began to kiss her along her neck. He never paid attention to the room around him. "Why, Marky!" Lannie-Doll yelped. Mark worked his way down her body and slid the doll's tights down her legs. He began to penetrate her, but there was a problem. "What the?" Mark looked under Lannie's skirt to find – nothing. Nothing that a working girl should have. Confused, he looked up to Lannie, who was not wearing her doll face. And she was very mad.

"But, Marky," she said in a baby girl voice, "I wanted to play Tea Party." He jumped off Lannie, who matter-of-factly pulled her tights back up. Her key was still turning. Mark recovered his wits and tried to get around to Lannie's back, but she ducked and got behind him. He never had time to turn around before he felt something being jabbed into his back. "Now, don't worry, Marky, this doesn't hurt at all." She began to turn his key, causing clicking noises to come from within Mark's body. Lannie was right – it didn't hurt.

"Now, Marky," she said, leaving his side to sit down in a small chair, "let's play tea party." His key didn't turn, but he obeyed anyway and he sat in the chair opposite Lannie. The room, he finally noted, was painted pink with fairies and flowers on the walls. Everything was decorated for a little girl. Lannie poured tea for herself and Marky. "Now, Marky, someone told me that you said something very mean about me. Is that true?"

"Of course not, Lannie. You're my girlfriend. I could never say anything bad about you." Marky's key turned suddenly, and his shirt changed into pink dress with poofy sleeves.

"Why did you lie to me, Marky? Don't you love me? I love you."

"I'm not lying, Lannie!" Mark's face gained feminine features and rosy cheeks, his hair lengthened and a pretty bow appeared on his head.

"Marky! Stop lying! Lying is bad. What mean things did you say about me?"

"I said that you, uh, were just like a wind-up doll. That I could wind you up and you would, uh, just have sex with me."

Lannie dropped her baby doll voice, "Is that what you really think about me? That I'm your love doll?"

"No! Of course not." Mark's voice now sounded like Lannie's used to; hollow and a little metallic. His legs, too, became like hers. "Please, baby, stop this." Lannie walked over to Mark and knelt down in front of him.

"Is that what you think about her? Or is she the one that you want to spend your life with?"

"Lannie. I – I'm sorry. She was just – so different. I couldn't –"

"I would not finish that sentence if I were you, Mark." Lannie wiped away a tear, "Damnit."

"Please, just fix this. We can go our separate ways. We never have to . . ." Lannie shook her head.

"We never will see each other again, Mark. And I'm not doing this for me. I'm doing this for the other girl and for any other girl you might have betrayed. Because I guarantee that you will not betray this little girl." She leaned in and gave Mark one last kiss. Then his key began to turn again. He finished whatever other changes needed to be made and watched Lannie walk out of the room.

"OK, Mommy! I'll be right there!" A little girl, dressed like Alice and with an overflowing Halloween bag, bounded into her room. She took a step back quickly, though, when she saw a pink wind-up toy sitting in her tea chair. She overcame her surprise quickly and picked up the doll and wound her key.

"Hello, my name is Mary! What is your name?"

"I'm Valerie."

"Valerie's such a pretty name. What would you like to play?" The girls eyes lit up and she ran out of the room,

"Mommy! Lookit! This is so cool!"
